General Objectives

• To identify and name all assigned human bones whether articulated with other bones viewed individually
• To identify and name all assigned bone processes, foramina, and other features
• To explain the function of all assigned human bones and their features
• To understand that a thorough knowledge of bones and their features is necessary for later understanding of the muscular system
• To accomplish identification and naming of bones and their features (as stated in previous objectives) on both diagrams and real human bones or plastic models
• To name and explain various homeostatic imbalances of the human skeleton as presented in these Notes on the Web

Related Human Anatomy Coloring Book Assignments

Only a few plates will be colored for this portion of the course. This is due to the fact that the excellent hands-on experience with skeletal materials in our laboratory sessions will allow you to understand this material without the added coloring exercises. The few plates you will color will be assigned in class.

Reminder about Textbook Study

As with other topics, your textbook has excellent presentations of the materials on the skeletal system. While you should focus on the specific material in the Notes on the Web, you should always use your textbook as a resource for illustrations and for understanding content that your notes cover.

As with all materials throughout the semester, you will have opportunities to ask questions or ask that any relevant material from your assignments be discussed in class.
