Mexican Ecology and Culture '98

I entered this class with the intentions of learning about the ecology and cultures of another country. My expectations of this class were far and away exceeded. This was the most educational course I have ever taken. Before coming into this class, I was already clear that I wanted a future as a zoologist. After doing field work in Mexico, I am absolutely certain that zoology is the career for me!

The experiences on our trip to Mexico were great. I had never seen mountains before in my entire life. The first night, we pulled into Bustamante Canyon National Park in the dark. I had no idea that I would wake up to a view of magnificent peaks all around. In the morning when I came out of the tent, my breath was taken away! A low fog bathed our camp, but above and through the fog were mountains! It was the most beautiful sight I had ever seen.

I knew this trip was going to be special, and it was! I would like to thank our professor, Bruce Stewart, for opening my eyes to a bigger world. I would also like to thank Murray State College for this life-long experience.

Now I am interested in zoology more than ever, especially animal behavior. I plan to finish my Associate of Science degree at Murray State College in Wildlife Conservation. A bachelors degree at the University of Oklahoma will be my next goal. Then I will work on a masters degree at who knows where! One dream that I will never give up is to go to Australia.

THANK YOU!
